My Therapeutic Approach with Adults

It’s important to understand a therapist's therapeutic approach. This is the guiding framework a therapist uses when helping clients work through their challenges. Knowing a therapist's approach gives you insight into how sessions will unfold and what methods might be used to support you. This understanding helps you feel more comfortable and confident in choosing a therapist who aligns with your needs and preferences. It also fosters trust, as you can see how their way of working can support your unique journey towards healing and personal growth.

In my practice, I take a collaborative, client-focused eclectic approach, which means I don’t rely solely on one model of therapy. I believe that every individual is unique, and my role is to work with you to tailor the therapeutic process to your specific needs. This personalized approach creates a flexible and supportive environment where we can explore your concerns, build on your strengths, and work towards your personal goals. I find that this method empowers clients, giving them the tools and insights they need to overcome challenges and achieve lasting growth.

As a social worker, I have been trained in a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches. These include Systemic Therapies, Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Trauma-Informed Care, among others. The fact that these approaches are grounded in research is key. Evidence-based therapies have been rigorously tested, proving their effectiveness in treating a range of mental health and emotional issues. By harnessing the techniques on these approaches, I ensure that the strategies and interventions they use are effective and beneficial to clients, offering real results and meaningful change.

My Therapeutic Approach with Children

When working with children, my therapeutic approach focuses on creating a safe, expressive, and playful environment where young clients can explore their feelings and challenges at their own pace. Children often communicate best through play, as it allows them to express complex emotions and experiences that they might not yet have the words to explain. By using child-centered therapeutic methods, I help children work through challenges, build resilience, and develop emotional awareness in a way that feels natural and supportive to them.

I am trained in Gestalt play-based therapy and sand tray therapy, both of which are highly effective for working with children. Gestalt play-based therapy encourages children to express their emotions through play, art, and movement, allowing them to process difficult experiences and increase self-awareness. Sand tray therapy, on the other hand, provides children with a symbolic and creative way to tell their stories using miniature figures and sand. These methods offer children a non-verbal, sensory-rich experience that fosters emotional expression and healing, especially for those who may find it challenging to communicate directly about their struggles.

In my practice, I take a compassionate, client-centered approach that is always tailored to the individual needs of each child. I work collaboratively with both the child and their caregivers to understand their unique experiences, strengths, and goals. By creating a therapeutic space that is both safe and engaging, I aim to support children as they navigate their emotions, build confidence, and develop coping skills that will serve them as they grow. My goal is to empower children to feel seen, understood, and capable as they work through their personal challenges.
